This past January, as I arrived in NYC for the New York Times Travel & Trade Show, I was excited not only to be here, but as well to take part in this valued 3 day event. Opportunities such as this, provide travel professionals with great insight of destinations and services we can pass on to our clients. Not only are we networking with our potential partners to provide our clients with expertise and value for their vacations, we network with fellow travel service providers! As travel opens up a classroom for us all, conferences and trade shows fine tune our educational experience. A win/win – we gain on a professional level and our clients therefore win with the topnotch, informative service we then have the ability to provide!
The weather this last weekend on January was exceptional to say the least. I spent time walking some of my favourite areas, shopping and enjoying all. Sitting at Public Fare Café, Bryant Park enjoying a cappuccino and watching the skaters enjoying this beautiful afternoon!
Another great place to venture on a “warm” winters day is Central Park…I was definitely not alone in that thought!!! Families headed to the zoo, ducks swimming happily in the ponds, while on-lookers enjoyed feeding & watching them. Wollman Rink was full of happy skaters; dogs were happily out for a walk with their owners. Street vendors and performers enjoying all that comes out on a lovely afternoon.
Even, Big Bird found a park bench to sit on, enjoy a song and chat with passers-by on route to Wollman Rink.
Outdoor rinks were certainly well used this weekend. From Bryant Park, Central Park to Rockefeller Center, everyone was smiling enjoying their time skating on a sunny January day. As I sat for breakfast at the Rockefeller Café, not only was I treated to great friendly service from all the staff, the menu selection here is excellent, coffee is served in a personal sized silver pots or French presses!
While enjoying a tasty breakfast, I was able to relax enjoy the view of the rink and all its activity
Alas, it was time to head to the airport. New York will have to wait till Spring and I look so forward to sharing those adventures with our clients…..in my next segment, I’ll share some of this great city’s Spring time adventures and pictures of what’s to come…………
